American Legion Post 108 & Lutz Cemetery – Non Profit Support for Community

Lutz Cemetery is operated as a non-profit… what?

The American Legion Post 108 Holding, Inc. is the parent of Lutz Cemetery (Fictitious Name). The American Legion Post 108 Holding, Inc. is a Florida Not For Profit Corporation. EIN #99-1661391.  Lutz Cemetery operates under the guidance of The American Legion Post 108 Holding, Inc Board of Directors.

That’s great but what does that mean for the community?

Lutz Cemetery Mission Statement

To provide dignified, lasting resting places that honor the past and serve future generations through thoughtful stewardship, including the preservation of historical records, beautification of grounds, and continuous investment in infrastructure such as parks, fencing, and roadways.  We are committed to creating a serene and respectful environment for remembrance, reflection, and legacy.

In Service to Our Veterans and Their Families

For each burial site or columbarium niche sold, Lutz Cemetery donates $300 to $500 (depending on the item sold) to The American Legion Post 108, contributing to the Post’s ability to provide continued service to local veterans, their families, and the community.

In Service of Local Youth

Lutz Cemetery proudly offers meaningful volunteer experiences for youth groups throughout the year.  These opportunities go beyond traditional service hours – they provide a hands-on education in local history, military heritage, and community service.

Lutz Cemetery Perpetual Care

For each burial site or columbarium niche sold, Lutz Cemetery designates 40% of the gross sale into the Lutz Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund. This amount exceeds the national standard, yet ensures our cemetery can fund special grounds projects and improvements in addition to the regular maintenance required for the cemetery.

The monthly cost to maintain the cemetery grounds and oversee cemetery projects is $4200 (this does not include the actual costs for renovation projects).

  • Mowing and Edging
  • Limb and Debris Removal
  • Monument Edging
  • Limited Monument Cleaning

Lutz Cemetery Renovation Project

The Lutz Cemetery Renovation Project is a transformative initiative to revitalize and enhance the cemetery’s physical layout and functionality. By responsibly clearing overgrown vegetation, debris, and unsafe or unusable areas, the project will create valuable space for new burial plots and additional columbaria, while simultaneously enhancing the overall aesthetic and accessibility of the cemetery grounds. Key objectives are:

  • Increase burial capacity through site reclamation and optimization
  • Enhance visitor experience with peaceful parks, amenities, gathering spaces, and ADA-compliant accessibility.
  • Offer new and innovative gardens, memorials, and remembrance options.

Donations are welcome and appreciated, and allow us to do more than just the basics.

Do You Have a Story to Share?

Lutz Cemetery is committed to preserving the legacy of all who are interred here. From Lutz founders, to public servants, and military families, we are proud of the people who have made Lutz Cemetery what it is today. There is a plethora of history amongst the headstones – but we want to know the story between the dates.  We would love to know the story between the dates!
