Honor Flight of West Central Florida & The American Legion Post 108 Honor Guard – Remembering, Celebrating, Honoring

Honor Flight® of West Central Florida, Inc. (HFWCF) was established as a regional hub of the Honor Flight Network in October, 2010.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in St. Petersburg, FL. Our mission is to honor America’s Veterans by providing them with a free trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials that recognize their service and sacrifices. Priority is given to World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War Veterans, as well as to Veterans who are terminally ill. Each one-day journey departs from the St. Petersburg–Clearwater International Airport (PIE).
Honor Flight of West Central Florida pays tribute to American Veterans for their service and sacrifices by flying them to Washington, D.C. at NO COST to visit the memorials dedicated in their honor. Honor Flight of West Central Florida is comprised of volunteers who honor our Veterans for all they sacrificed.
The Szymanowki family made this a family opportunity with Auxiliary member Donna participating as a “Guardian” and Honor Guard Captain Bob leading an Honor Guard detachment welcoming our veterans home. Guardians help escort a veteran from their early morning send-off to the return home. Donna had the opportunity to escort American Legion Post 108 founding member Rolland Perez.

American Legion Post 108 Honor Guard is always ready to serve in honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans who honorably service the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.
“Thru rain or sleet or heat or snow,
The American Legion Honor Guard will go.
To perform their duties on command
in honor of all those who defended this land.
Their gesture of good deeds for the family bereaved
will bring comfort and closure to what they have achieved.”
- George Cox, Korean Veteran

“The 108 Honor Guard sets the standard, honoring veterans at events with unmatched dignity and respect. They are elevated by a one-of-a-kind custom cannon and dedicated cannoneer raising the benchmark for our community.” – Don Hinst, Commander, American Legion Post 108.
“I love my country, the flag, most of all those that we honor. The cannon salute is a very small token for what others have given for all of us to have FREEDOM!” – Steven Linder, 108 Honor Guard Cannoneer.
