Lutz Cemetery

Lutz Cemetery has a 100-year history. Established in 1911, the very first burial is said to be of Mr. Nims in 1914.

American Legion Post 108 Holding, Inc. now manages the historic cemetery.

American Legion Post 108 began work in 2023 to revitalize this historic cemetery. In years past, TAL Post 108 had contributed funds to replace the only building’s roof. Once the Post acquired the cemetery, they came together to add paver decking and perform a massive clean-up of the grounds.

“This is still a community cemetery,” says TAL Post 108 Holding Company President Don Hinst, “We want this to be a place where families can find peace and tranquility as they visit their loved ones.”

Managers of Lutz Cemetery have a big wish list with plans already in the works to add additional columbarium spaced for niches, pave roads, and update fencing.

In recent years, additional land has been procured by the cemetery which boasts more than 200 available burial spots and many available niches.

Lutz Cemetery Future

Visitors can expect to see a lot of good changes in the cemetery’s future. Lutz Cemetery has recently become a registered cemetery with Wreaths Across America. Beginning in December 2024, Wreaths will be laid on all Veteran graves at Lutz Cemetery. “We encourage members of the community to continue to support and participate in Lutz Cemetery clean up, memorial events, and other gatherings held at this historic location,” says Toni Hedstrom, one of the Cemetery’s management team.
